Homework

We believe that regular homework encourages self-discipline in children as well as giving parents an insight into their child’s education. Pupils receive various forms of homework. There will be the “regular” items such as spelling and multiplication tables in addition to tasks designed to consolidate work undertaken in school.

Homework is viewed as reinforcement or enrichment of the curriculum provided in school and is directly linked to work being done in the classroom, either as a follow-up to classwork or preparation work for future lessons, and will be thoroughly explained to the children.

The amount of homework increases during Year 6 in preparation for transfer to secondary school. If, however, your child is unable to complete the work, for any reason, then please contact the teacher, who will offer further guidance.

Parental support is most welcome and is regarded as being of great importance. Each child has an individual homework diary in which they write all their homework details including the date work has to be handed in to their class or set teacher.
